Saturday 9: #8

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Everybody is a Star

1. Did you ever think that you'd be a star? If yes, doing what?
I've always considered it. And if I'm ever famous, it'd be for singing.. I hope. :)

2. Tell us about the last time you had a romantic dinner.
Joshua and my 7 month anniversary. He cooked for me. It was fantastic!

3. Tell us about your worst job interview.
I've never had a bad one; knock on wood. :)

4. Tell us about your stupidest date.
Hmm. I can't think of the stupidest, but I can think of the most pointless.

5. How much in common do you think you should have with a romantic partner?
I suppose it doesn't matter, so long as you can agree on loving one another and keep each other happy.

6. Tell us about a favorite meme that you loved but no longer posts.
None as of yet. I've continued all -- haha, I only do three.

7. How did you get into blogging?
I was Googling giveaways and came across a blog. Looked into it; love it.

8. Do you share all your fantasies with a significant other?
Most, but in all honesty, I don't even think I've figured out all of my fantasies yet.

9. What change in your life would you like to happen this year?
I'm still working on my New Years Resolution -- being better to my sweetheart. He's wonderful to me and deserves the same. :)

While you're here, check out my giveaway! It's my first Company Sponsored giveaway!! :)
8-pack Assortment of Pirate's Booty Snacks! 2/10

I've seen better days..

Joshua, my cousin, and myself were headed home today. The roads were a little icey, but we figured that we'd try. Remember, I'm from Fort Myers, FL; no wintery road experience.
My poor poor car isn't use to this stuff, but it tried. We made it all the way down the VERY long road home and got to the big hill. I tried. I tried hard. My car couldn't make it. So we figured I'd drive us to my parents' house. Wrong again. My car couldn't make it back the way we came. So, I called my daddy and told him that we couldn't get anywhere. We were sitting at a store; couldn't get to the house and could get to my parents' -- just basically stuck. Daddy to the rescue!! He got out his 4x4 to come save his Babygirl.
My poor car is now sitting at an old country store near the house. Unfortunately, my Valentine's Swap goodies are in the car. I'll get them out as soon as I can get to my car, promise. We're expected to have 6'-10' of snow. BLAHH.
I'm now at my parents' house. Gosh I love being here! Although today wasn't terrible, I've seen better days.

Aloha Friday #6

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My Question:
What's your favorite non-alcoholic drink?

My Answer:
I'm stuck between chocolate milk & vegetable juice. Very different, I know.

Don't forget to enter my Pirate's Booty Giveaway! 1 Winner will win a Treasure Chest filled with an assortment of 8 different flavored goodies!! It's my first company sponsored giveaway!

Excuse me, but what did you call me?

I was waiting for my class to start yesterday evening, when this guy sat down at the computer beside mine. *Smile*
HIM: "Hi, how are you?"
ME: "Fine, thanks for asking. Yourself?"
HIM: "Doing good, thanks."
No big deal. I don't attend the Main Campus, I go to the smaller campus closer to where I live. Very small. Basically the same people everytime I'm there. So this was nothing new to me. Small town = nice people - typically.
One of my friends show up, she's in the same class that I'm in, which is in the computer lab where every college student gathers until my class starts. I start telling her about how I'm so excited that I'm hosting my first company sponsored giveaway! (Because I really am thrilled!!!)
The man, obviously listening says to me: "What all do you do for the companies?"
ME: "I receive a product from them, use it, review it, and give my opinion."
HIM: "That's all?" (He didn't say it rudely.. just sounded surprised).
ME: "Basically. I mean, there's a lot of time put into the whole thing, but that pretty much sums it up."
HIM: "Soooo.. you're a kinda like a bum."
ME: "Huh? I do a lot of work for the products that I receive! Where do you work?"
HIM: "Dollar General. But what I'm saying is that it's kind of lazy that you don't do anything other than that."
Hold up! Did he really just say that I'm a bum AND lazy?! You're kidding, right? This guy doesn't know me at all; how could he assume things like that? Alright, just stay calm. You're here for college, not to get tangled in with idiots.
ME: "I'm not sure that I understand why you'd say I'm being lazy or being a bum. I work for what I receive; I spend a lot of time working for what I receive."
I'm a full-time student; full-time fiance and home cleaner. Joshua uses our only running vehicle through the day to get back and forth to work. What am I supposed to do, walk from the top of the mountain (where I live) to town everyday? (about a fifteen minute, mountain road drive). Seriously?
HIM: "I'm just saying, you're working from home, it doesn't seem like much. Seems sorta lazy. Seems like you bum off of these companies is all I'm sayin'."
ME: "As I already said, I work for what I get. I enjoy doing what I do. I'm not a bum, nor am I lazy. Working from home doesn't make a person a bum, it shows that they're capable of responsibility. I could wake up, lay around and watch tv all day until it's time for class. Instead, I wake up, clean the house, contact companies and post reviews."
My teacher walked in to announce that anyone that wasn't in our class had to leave because class was starting. He got up, nodded at me, and walked out. So much for the nicer people at smaller campuses.

I must admit, I never understood completely how much of a hassel SAHM's get until today. I'm not even a mom, just a pre-adult trying to get through college and yet I've already began to experience the trouble that comes with blogging.
I enjoy blogging, I like working with these [very awesome] companies. I love meeting all of you, my great readers. No matter what other people may say, I think that this is a fantastic hobby and I have no plans of quitting.

*CLOSED* Pirate's Booty Snacks Review & Giveaway

Ahoy Maties!! What do you think of whenever you hear snack? I think of your typical, everyday chips or pre-made goodie. High in sodium; not even the slightest bit healthy. But it turns out that not all snacks are this way. But then I think about it.. Healthy snacks usually aren't very tasty; however, with Pirate's Booty, this isn't the case! These delicious snacks are baked and made with natural ingrdiants!

A Piece of Their Story:
The Pirate Brands story began in 1987 in Sea Cliff, NY with our founder, Robert. Robert, a snack industry renegade and father of two, scoured the high-seas for a tasty treasure that would inspire people to live a little healthier and have fun while doing it. That's when Robert discovered the cheesy rice and corn puffs we know today as, Pirate's Booty.
I recently received a box from UPS, just your average box, nothing different. But inside was a very cute Treasure Chest in the mail. Neat, don't you think? After all, it is Pirate's Booty!
Here I was expecting one small sample sized bag, and I get a Treasure Chest?! Awesome!! As I slowly opened up the box, I could see how slam packed full of goodies the chest really was!
Inside of the Treasure Chest were 8 bags of chips (all different flavors), 3 stick on tattoos, 1 chip clip, and 1 sticker. All of these yummy goodies for me? I couldn't believe it. I should have known better though; everyone in my family showed up shortly after I received the package. And of course, everyone wanted a taste. So I grabbed a few small dishes, and pured a few of each flavor onto everyone's dish. Let me just tell you, Pirate's Booty has you covered! They have a flavor for everyone! These rice and corn puff snacks were fantastic! That's right, rice and corn puffs! I don't usually invision rice and corn puffs as being "yummy"; healthy, yes, but not so much on the tasteful side. But these little snacks proved me wrong.
Here are the flavors that I received:
Aged White Cheddar, Barbeque, Crunchy Corn Sticks, New York Pizza, Real Wisconsin Cheddar, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Sour Cream & Onion, and even Veggie!
And here are a few of the Nutritional Facts. (These Nutritional facts are not the same as the Crunchy Corn Sticks or Real Wisconsin Cheddar).
»All natural
»Kosher
»Baked
»Trans fat and gluten free.
»Cholesterol free
»Each bag contains 130 calories or less!
»50% Less fat than potato chips!

I'm tellin' ya, I had hoped that these snacks would atleast last through the week, but they didn't. They lasted a few hours. My family and I ate them in no time at all. In our defense, there were six of us! And out of all of the flavors, we didn't come across one that we didn't like.
Personally, I loved the crunch. They weren't too hard nor too soft. They crunched the perfect crunch!
Not only was the crunch good, but the taste was wonderful as well. Even the Sea Salt & Vinegar. I don't usually eat Salt & Vinegar chips, I'm not big on the overwhelming smell (or taste). But I actually enjoyed this Sea Salt & Vinegar flavored snack! The smell, nor taste, was over-powering.
Now for the best part!! Pirate's Booty has generously offered to give one of my lucky readers the same Treasure Chest that I received! Thank you Pirate's Booty!!

Crazy Weather

I wish that the weather would make up it's mind. Warm or Cold? Rain or Snow? Just choose something, already.
I have classes all week.. well, Monday - Thursday. And the weather is supposed to be relatively warm 44° - 50°! But then, on Friday night / Saturday morning it jumps to freezing rain / snow showers. Seriously?! I don't mind the weather being as indecicive as I am (Mother Nature is a woman too...so I am told) BUT if it's going to snow, can't it be on a day of class? :)
I'm hoping that the week goes by quickly and that my sample of the giveaway I'll be hosting comes in the mail soon. The sooner I get my sample, the sooner that you all get a giveaway! :) And believe me, it's gonna be a yummy one!!

What's your opinion of Selling Information.

I have been contacting companies like crazy over the past week or two, trying to get up some Giveaways for my dear readers (yes! you, silly). And although I believe that this certain company (confidential) may still work with me, I'm not quite sure.
They asked if I mind giving them the info of my readers. At first, I thought, no big deal - she's a female, middle-aged, two kids, blah blah blah. Wrong! I asked the person what information they were wanting, exactly, this way I knew. They asked if I would get phone numbers, mailing addresses, e-mail addresses, etc. I said "I typically prefer not to give out the entrants information. However, I can make an Extra Entry available for the entrants to subscribe to the Newsletter." Fair trade, I believe. I receive a free product, they receive a review and subscribers (whom may or may not purchase products from them in the future). However, I am still waiting for a response to that last e-mail that I sent. It seems as though the person went to lunch and never came back.
Now, although I am going to be hosting my FIRST sponsored giveaway soon, please do not assume that the giveaway is from the same company that I am writing this post about. I'm sorry to say, but you'd be wrong. (Actually, I'm glad to say that you'd be wrong.. I like the company I am reviewing for). As I said earlier, I have gone company crazy in the past couple weeks trying to get companies to allow me to review for them. And although I still hope to review for this company in the near future, I want you all to know that I will not give out your information (unless you're the winner of a giveaway).
At any rate, I don't feel that it would be professional (as a blogger) nor would it be right (as a consumer) for me to give/sell/provide this company with my readers' personal information.
How do you feel about this matter?

No Stranger Sunday: #3

Welcome to No Stranger Sunday, where every Sunday I will post an interview of a different blogger from around the blogsphere. Take the time, get to know these people. Visit their blogs.

This week, I am glad to announce Ashley from Life Is Beautiful! Ashley is definitely a doll and full of faith. Go take a look. :)

Tell us a bit about yourself:

Do you live in a city or a more rural area?
I'm from an extremely small town. Most people that come to visit never realize when they have entered or left another town. My home county is small, but I love it that way!

Are you married? If so, how long?
Nope. I'm still waiting on that one the Lord has out there for me.

Do you have children? If so, how many?
I don't, but I have always been extremely close to my three nephews & niece. Since I was 12 it is rare for me to go two days out of the week without being at their house or them at mine. So to some extent I feel as though I have kids!

Any extra family members? (i.e. pets)
I do have a cat who I believe thinks she is a human. When I first got her I always called her Little Buddy, so I decided to name her Gilligan. That was also before I knew she wasn't a he, so I call her Gilly for short.

What food makes your mouth water, just thinking about it?
Oh my! I love food, but thinking about dark chocolate covered fleur de sel caramels makes me drool all over the place. And so does chicken parmigiana.

What is your favorite book?
The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. It's a children' book, but it's been my favorite since i was in 1st grade. I actually own numerous copies of it!

Do you collect anything? If so, what?
Novelty Socks. I have an insane collection of them, but I'm not too big on wearing socks. I also collect wine bottles. I don't drink it, but I love the bottles. Since I work as a housekeeper I'm able to find some really amazing looking bottles left in rooms.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Reading, cooking, cleaning, browsing the internet, thrift shopping, making things, pilates.

Tell us a bit about your blog:

Is there any certain reason that you named your blog "Life Is Beautiful"?
I just believe that life is beautiful, always. I know there are times when you just feel like stepping on someone's toes for telling you life is beautiful when you are almost certain everything is falling apart, and everyone is out to get you, but once you take a step back and look at all you have, you begin to see that Life Is Beautiful, always.

When did you start blogging?
I have actually been blogging for years. Long before blogging was the thing to be doing. I just didn't do it on the blog I have now, and I honestly didn't enjoy it the way I do now. I guess I've had my main blog sometime over a year. (Don't hold me to that because I honestly have no idea when I published my first post! haha)

What is something that you love about your blog?
How it's just me. I can read blogs all day that I love, but none of them are me.

Did you design your own blog? If not, who did?
Yes I did. It's nothing fancy, but I like it, and there are others who seem to as well. I'm sure it will change sometime soon. I hate keeping things like that the same! :D

Are there any topics that you LOVE to blog about?
My faith, and lately it seems that I've been blogging a ton about Etsy. I think I'm addicted to that place! I also like blogging about food when I do remember to take photos and what not when I cook!

Any topics that you really try not to blog about?
I usually try to stay away from blogging about, I guess you would call it, my love life. Not that I actually have one, but when it comes to guys asking me out and what not, I usually just keep that to myself. I'm sure some things about those instances I would blog about, but I guess I'm just afraid some guy that I say no to may happen upon my blog, and that would just be awkward.

How many blogs do you currently use?
Just one now. I use to blog on Myspace for awhile, but that just wasn't the same.

Do you have any tips for other bloggers?
Make sure you love what you're doing, and don't post things that you are going to say "man, why in the world would I post something like that". Also, for those who are new to blogging, don't get upset when you think no one is reading. The chances that someone is, and start reading others blogs and responding to them. It's amazing the friends you can make by blogging.

Is there anything you'd like to say to the readers?
Thanks for reading!

Ashley, thanks a ton for being a part of my meme. It's such a great opportunity to allow my readers, your readers & myself to get to know you & your blog better.

And thank all of you for visiting this week's No Stranger Sunday! If you would like to be interviewed, feel free to visit the No Stranger Sunday link and sign up. :)

Saturday 9: #7

Welcome to Saturday: 9 .

Saturday 9: I Think We're Alone Now

1. What celebrity in a fantasy would you like to be alone with?
In all honesty, there's not one.

2. Have ever dated a good friend?
I have. We stayed friends, but a relationship wasn't for us.

3. What is the most embarrassing song that you like?
Ebarrassing song?.. Hmm. All of the songs by The Backstreet Boys & most of Britney Spears' old songs.

4. What is your favorite tear jerker movie?
A Walk To Remember

5. What about yourself makes you least secure?
Lest secure? Uhm, my hands & feet. I don't like either.

6. Do you believe in destiny?
I think so. I'm still trying to figure all of that out. I suppose that destiny could be changed though by what decisions you make.. right?

7. What 'issue' do you think your opinion is so right about that you end up trying to sway others to your point of view?
I don't try to. I've learned thatno two people will always agree on every subject. I try to listen to their reasonings, then I tell them mine. After that → new subject.

8. What are 5 things you don't care about?
Having a cell phone; soccer; gossip; people that choose to be dependant on others (not like SAHM, no worries :] -- I'm talking about my cousin that won't even wash a dish when he's finished with it)

9. Have you ever been in a situation where you weren't sure if you were seducing or being seduced?
I.Love.You.Joshua.

Aloha Friday #5

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

Question:
Are you going to miss the cold weather?
My Answer:
To an extent, yes. I tend to sweat (more than average - in my opinion, at least..) in hot weather; during winter, I can hide it. But then again, I don't like too much heat (which is kinda odd seeing as I was born & raised in Fort Myers, Florida!).
Don't forget to post your answers below:
Also, keep you eyes peeled for my upcoming giveaway!! Subscribing to my e-mail is an easy way to stay caught up, plus it will be worth extra entries in the giveaway. :)

I Need a New Mattress

Everyone sleeps. Plain and simple. Everyone wants to be comfortable while they sleep.. right? Yes! Well, Joshua and I are new to our own place - we are using a bed that my parents gave to me (which I've had for about 10 years!!). Winning a new bed would be more than amazing, it'd be a blessing. No more soar back; no more tossing & turning from stupid sleepless springs; no more late night bed problems! :)
Could you use a bed, too? Then Click Here.

Trying to keep up..

Ah. I've been trying to keep up with family and blogging and being a full-time student. It's actually a lot harder than I thought. I have so much to worry about these next few days.. but things should be better by next week -- I hope.
I'm sorry for not being around so much lately, it's tough the first few days of college - getting all the right books, keeping up with each class.. everything. After I've met all of my teachers and figured out how they'll be, I should be blogging more.

At any rate, I would love for more people to sign up to be interviewed for No Stranger Sunday! I have my featured blogger for this week, but after that.. Nobody.
Remember, anyone can sign up! I will NOT decline anyone from participating. It doesn't matter if you're brand new to blogging or have been doing it for years - I'd love for you to participate in my Sunday meme.
Also, when you are interviewed, I prepare a button that you can post on your blog that will link to YOUR interview. This way, you can show anyone, at any time..!
So, CLICK HERE to sign up if you're interested.

No Stranger Sunday: #2

Welcome to No Stranger Sunday, where every Sunday I will post an interview of a different blogger from around the blogsphere. Take the time, get to know these people. Visit their blogs.

This week, I am pleased to announce Kandi from Twin-Spiration! She is a wonderful lady and has quite a lot of great posts - definitely worth checking out!! Tell us a bit about yourself:

Do you live in a city or a more rural area?
We are in a rural area...small town.

Are you married? If so, how long?
I am married to my high school sweetheart and have been married for almost 8 years.

Do you have children? If so, how many?
Yes, I have 6 year old identical twin girls.

Any extra family members? (i.e. pets)
We have an albino Boxer named Martini and a very old Boston Terrier named Buddy

What food makes your mouth water, just thinking about it?
Mexican food, yum!

What is your favorite book?
I love to read self help book and some of my favorite ones are by Jim Rohn like "The five major pieces to the life puzzle". For pleasure reading, I am a big fan of the James Patterson books...The Cross Series.

Do you collect anything? If so, what?
I have been a bartender since I was 21 and love to collect bartending stuff. I also have a weird fetish about sticky note pads, I love all different kinds of those. One more thing that I am a big collector of is scrapbooking stuff. I have just recently dabbled in the digital scrapbooking but have $1,000's of dollars worth of scrapbooking stuff.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy playing basketball with my girls, blogging and reading.

Tell us a bit about your blog:

Is there any certain reason that you named your blog "Twin-Spiration"?
I wanted something "twin" related since I have twins and they are my inspriation for doing this blog...hence the name "twin-spiration".

When did you start blogging?
October 2009

What is something that you love about your blog?
I love that I can journal my thoughts...it's very theraputic and then at the end of the year I am able to make a book of my blog to reflect on each and every year of our lives. I also love connecting with like minded people...that's great!

Did you design your own blog? If not, who did?
I designed it myself and everyday am teaching myself more on Photoshop to be able to totally "pimp" it out.

Are there any topics that you LOVE to blog about?
My girls and my husband...both are equally funny topics.

Any topics that you really try not to blog about?
I am not a big political person unless I feel very strongly about something...so I try to stay out of that arena, but when I do blog about it, you will want to read it cuz it will be pretty meaningful. :)
How many blogs do you currently use?
Do people have more than one? Oh my...I may have to start another one. LOL

Do you have any tips for other bloggers?
One thing I was told early on was not to give your family and friends your blog address...unless they are really close to you. That way you can write about whatever is going on with you and not worry about who is reading it. Also, something that I didn't know when I first started was that you want to hit enter between all of the paragraphs so it's not a solid amount of writing...and always use some sort of picture(s). I learned quickly.

Is there anything you'd like to say to the readers?
I would love to have you follow me and would love to follow you. I enjoy reading about other peoples experiences and think this is a great support network. Also, any feedback that you have that could improve my blog, I am totally open to.
Kandi, thanks so much for allowing me to interview you and for allowing my readers (and myself) to have the opportunity of learning more about you and your blog! Not only do I appreciate you being a part of this meme, I appreciate your help with a wonderful idea that contributed to this meme. :) You're a doll!!

And thank all of you for visiting this week's No Stranger Sunday! If you would like to be interviewed, feel free to visit the No Stranger Sunday link and sign up. :)

Saturday 9: #6

Welcome to Saturday: 9.
Theme: When We Was Fab

1. Is there a blog as far as its appearance goes that you think is the most fabulous?
Actually, there are quite a few..

2. Do you like the look and the contents of your blogs?
I'm okay with them. But if I were to ever have the chance (and finances) I know exactly what I'd prefer.

3. Have you ever thought what would happen to your blog in case you died?
No, it's never crossed my mind.. But it'd probably wither away.

Not exactly on that sort of thing. I basically have decided what I'd write about .. without help. Although I am a big fan of The Mommy-Files!

Absolutely. That's the only way to improve.

6. Is the number of visitors each day to your blog important to you?
Not really, at times, I forget that people read my blog. Needless to say, I'd love more people to read it.

7. What percentage of your readers do you think actual comment?
Probably most of them - maybe 89%.

8. Do you have a favorite blogger who does the memes that you participate in?

Chocolate Heaven!

Later tonight, my parents are going to a Christmas Party! (Yes, it's the middle of January). Their neighbor (my parents' BEST friend) has grandchildren, which she hasn't had since before the holidays. So she's kept up her Christmas Tree, left stocking hung high, and been waiting for tonight for a long time! So my mom a Chocolate Heaven!!
This pie pan of yumminess is just that - YUM!
My mom baked some choclate brownies, cut off the tops of the brownies and replaced the tops with chocolate pudding, then placed sprinkles on top. But then.. uh-oh!! What to do with the tops of the cupcakes?! Can't let them go to waste!! Soo, she poured some chocolate pudding in a pie pan, placed the tops of the cupcakes on the pudding, then put some more pudding on top of the cupcakes.. and don't forget the sprinkles!
And there you have it: Chocolate Heaven!! (If you ask me, atleast..)
Aren't I lucky that she needed someone to give the cupcakes to? Mmmm. My own Chocolate Heaven!

TAG - I'm it!

Tag - I'm it. I was tagged by Colleatha from Earl's Daughter. So, now I am suppose to tell 7 things about myself that you don't already know. Soo..hmm. I suppose I'll try my best - but 7 things, that's actually a lot. :)
After I list my 7 things, I am suppose to Tag 7 other people and they will continue the cycle.
Soooo - Tag, I'm it!

1. I have two older sisters - I'm the baby. My middle sister was adopted by my aunt - my parents had a child (my middle sister) for my aunt, because my aunt couldn't birth children herself.

2. I don't like oceans. I lived in Florida - my dad and I use to always go out on our boat, we fished a lott. I know what's in the water. Scary stuff.

3. I'm great at shooting guns - I have the aiming down to bull's eyes! I have my hunting license - but it makes me sad. I can't do it. I stick to shooting cans, eggs, targets.. anything that's not living.

4. I can't stand for dirty dishes to sit in a sink. Even if I'm at someone else's house, I've been known to do dishes. (I try to be sneaky about it :: I'll eat a little something and dirty a dish, then volunteer to do the rest while I'm washing my own..)

5. I want to save up some money so that I can go on a game show. Deal or No Deal. Let's Make a Deal. The Singing Bee. -- Anything.

6. My thought pattern is really odd. I can see something disgusting in real life, anytime, even when I'm eating and it doesn't bother me - BUT I can't see stuff gross on television or it makes my tummy turn.

7. I use to know how to play the piano, but I really can't anymore.

Now I have to tag 7 other people to make their own lists.

Tag, you're it!

Aloha Friday #4

In Hawaii, the people use Friday as a day of relaxation. So, curtesy of An Island Life - I will do the same. Every friday I will post one question, and you can answer it here. Then, after you answer the question - post a question on your blog & take the day easy!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
Question:
Have you kept your New Years Resolution thus far?
My Answer:
Yes. My New Years Resolution has been to do better in my relationship (not that I'm a bad fiance..) - I want to try to do better than I've been. Sometimes I get upset over stupid things, so I'm trying to not. :)
Post your answer below:

Here's to you, my dear.

Here's to you, my dear.
For being the only guy that has touched my heart with care. For being the only guy that listened when I rant about things that I shouldn't. For being the guy that has rubbed my tummy so that I could fall asleep when my stomach hurt. For being the only person that would listen when I was afraid. For holding me when I cry at night. For understanding that I don't need a reason to cry - sometimes I really can't help it. For taking the time to cook my favorite meals. For kissing me, even after my wisdom teeth were pulled (icky breath). For letting me make my mistakes, but not judging me based on the mistakes that I've made. And most of all, here's to you, my dear, for loving me.
Although I may not always be the easiest person to get along with, you always have found a way to stay by my side. Through all of my decisions, you have held my hand. You've been there for me like nobody else ever has, nor will anyone ever have the chance. You're the one at my side when I'm having the best moments of my life. You hold me up whenever I can't even hold myself. You are my hands for feeling, my crutch when I'm struggling. You are what makes me complete. I love you.

Back to school!

Tomorrow is my first day back to college!
I'm all signed up and ready for my second semester! Last semester, I had to go to school 5 days a week.. uhg. The reason I had so many days of class is because my Composition class was only offered Tuesday & Thursday and my Math class was only offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So, I had a class everyday, luckily I only had a few classes each day!
This semester.. Only 4 days a week! :) Monday through Thursday!! I'm so excited to have a three day weekend!! WOO-HOO!!
Well, I just wanted to let you all know.. if I'm not around a whole lot - this is why. But I'll try not to dissapear off of the face of the earth. :)

Blog Awards!!

I'm so very thrilled to announce that I have recieved my first (and second) blog awards!! Yesterday (Tuesday... it's now 1:13 a.m.) was a very slow day for me.. Not many e-mails, not much to do. But as I was about to head to bed, I decided to check my blogger and there it was, the comment from Ashley. It stated that she had awards for me! I couldn't believe it. At first, in all honesty, I thought it may have been a spam comment (I have to approve comments, so I don't see the pictures of people unless I go to my blog).. at any rate, I looked on my posts and there was the comment that Ashley from Life Is Beautiful had posted!
For those of you that don't already know Ashley.. you should go check her out. She's definitely a sweet one. She has many great writings / posts on her blog and I'm sure that you could find something you'd enjoy.
Thank you Ashley, you're really a doll. I'm honored to be one of the people that you selected to receive this award and I will pass it one to the deserving. Thanks again, sweetheart.

With this award I'm suppose to 7 things about myself that make me unique!

Let's see....

1. I love for people to ask me to sing - but I can typically only think of one song whenever I'm asked (Amazing Grace).
2. I'm an organized freak.. Joshua calls me POCD (Practically OCD).
3. Most people say that they end up missing high school - I don't miss it.
4. I'm a big fan of musicals, even some that aren't always "appropriate". My favorites are: Wizard of Oz, RENT, Oliver, Grease, Mary Poppins, and Dream Girls.
5. I love eating frozen burritos.
6. I can't sleep unless a fan or radio is on - unless I'm camping.
7. I don't like whenever the button of my socks get dirty.

The Rules for Accepting These Awards:

1. To accept this award you must post it on your blog with the name and a link to the person who gave it to you.

2. Pass on the award to about 15 other bloggers who you recently discovered and think are great!
(I haven't chosen 15, but that's ok!)

3. Contact the other bloggers and let them know they have been chosen for this award.

& of course for the second award, you must post 7 things about you that make you unique!

I have decided that the following people are who I am passing these two (very lovely) awards onto:

No Stranger Sunday: #1

Welcome to No Stranger Sunday, where every Sunday I will post an interview of a different blogger from around the blogsphere. Take the time, get to know these people. Visit their blogs.

This week, our first week, I am pleased to announce that that we have Shannon from The Mommy-Files! I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to interview her - she's my version of a blogging celebrity! If you keep up with my blog, then you've probably seen me mention her from time to time throughout different posts. Shannon's blog is the whole reason that I even set up my own account with Blogger; she has had an incredible impact on my blogging experience. Shannon is an incredible blogger - plain and simple. I hope that one day my blog reaches a level as great as her's. Tell us a bit about yourself:

Do you live in a city or a more rural area?
I live in Seattle. I love living in the city. I grew up in the suburbs, so this is different, but tons of fun. I don't live downtown (that would be too stressful with little ones), but love where we live.

Are you married? If so, how long?
I have been married for 10 years. I can't believe it!

Do you have children? If so, how many?
I have 3 boys (ages 6, 3, and 18 months)

Any extra family members? (i.e. pets)
Nope. :)

What food makes your mouth water, just thinking about it?
Chocolate - that was an easy one. Ooohhh and lobster and steak :)

What is your favorite book?
Little Women

Do you collect anything? If so, what?
I collect the State Quarters and DVDs. I have so many DVDs!

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to blog. I am working on getting caught up on our Scrapbooks also. I also enjoy baking, playing games, and running our local MOMS Club. Not much spare time after those items.

Tell us a bit about your blog:

Is there any certain reason that you named your blog "The Mommy-Files"?
I wanted a blog with the word "mommy" in it. My husband and I sat down and brainstormed and I thought of a file cabinet, the X-Files, and then came up with "The Mommy-Files."

When did you start blogging?
July 2008

What is something that you love about your blog?
I love that is grown so much over the past year. I love that when I go to a blogging event, people ask the name of my blog and when I tell them, they say "Oh I know your blog." That's such a good feeling!

Did you design your own blog? If not, who did?
No. Krystyn from Krizzy Designs designed my header and Lauren from Restored Designs set up my WordPress blog.

Are there any topics that you LOVE to blog about?
I love to blog about experiences I have as a mother and product reviews. I also love hosting giveaways and the reactions people have when they win.

Any topics that you really try not to blog about?
I try to stay away from politics or topics that would create a lot of drama.

Do you have any tips for other bloggers?
Don't get burned out on blogging. It's easy to do. Pace yourself and blog about what you enjoy. I love to blog about parenting or experiences I've had as a mom. Some are very personal, but that's what makes it my blog :)

Is there anything you'd like to say to the readers?
Thanks for being there for me. Your comments and support mean so much to me. Without my readers, The Mommy-Files would not be what it is today.

Thank you Shannon for allowing me to interview you and for allowing my readers (and myself) to have the opportunity of getting to know you better! You are truly an inspiration to fellow bloggers!
And thank all of you for visiting this week's No Stranger Sunday!

Mindy McCready!

I don't know how many of you watch Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew Pinksy.. but my sister does! She loves it. She was just telling me about how Mindy McCready was on it and talking about how her mom use to beat her and how her mom has custidy of her son (so he's going to get beat..)... blah, blah, blah!
I know her mom, personally. When I lived in Florida (only 3 years ago, mind you), I went to [un-named Church] and Mindy's mom [once again, I'll leave un-named.. I don't know what all I'm allowed to say]... She was my Wednesday bible school teacher AND Sunday School teacher! She (Mindy's mom) use to throw get togethers [pool parties] for any of the people at the church so that the kids were all in a safe place - not doing drugs! She even let us stay the night, many times! Mindy's mom is a FANTASTIC woman! It really hurts to know that Mindy is saying such incredibly terrible things about her!
Maybe Mindy was abused as a child, I don't know. I wasn't there. But I do know Mindy's son. He's not abused! He is in a wonderful, loving home - something that Mindy could have never given to that amazing child!
I recently went to Florida for a small vacation, and visited Mindy's mom to tell her thank you for everything that she'd done for me. She use to always say "God has a call for you, and is going to do something good for you in your life!" I mean, she's a wonderful woman! Mindy said on the show that her son is having to go through "the same things" that she did whenever she was a child because her mom has custody of her son. Mindy couldn't be more wrong. It's the complete opposite, in fact. If it weren't for this wonderful woman, Mindy's son would be going through exactly what Mindy is going through right now. He would be forced to watch his mom in rehab and see his mom slump down in this society, lower than a mother should be. If this boy were with his actual mom (Mindy), I would hate to see the life that he was handed. Luckily, Mindy's mom lent a hand to Mindy (and her son) and has taken this wonderful boy in - just as a Heaven Sent grandma would do.
And not only do I know Mindy's mom, but I've also met Mindy, several times. She even came to the church and signed a t-shirt for me (which I still have). I can't believe that Mindy is talkng such terrible trash about her mom!
For those of you whom are my readers, I'm sorry that you are [seeing] me this way. I don't like to get upset, truly. I do my best to stay calm in all situations. But this, as you can tell, has really hit my heart. I know this family. I have for many years (about 8 years - about 2/3 of my life). And it hurts me to hear what Mindy is saying about her mom. Mom's deserve respect. Parents deserve respect.

Mindy, if you read this, and I hope that you do.. Take the time to try to remember me. My name is Jerrica Puckett, I attended the church that your mom use to be a teacher at. I'm not sure if you can remember past all of your drunken nights and stupid parties, but try... Okay. Now hear me out: I couldn't be more appalled of what you have said in regards to your own mom. Any respect that I've ever had for you is so much more than gone! I use to look up to you, I loved your voice, I loved your smile. I even told your mom that I wished that one day you would let me do a duet with you.. Really.. I admired you. But now, I've grown up; unfortunately, you have not! I see what you are now. You don't deserve the WONDERFUL mom that you have! I truly wish that you could have a better relationship with your mom [for your sake & your mom's sake, and most importantly, for your son's sake]. Maybe it's good that you are in rehab, too bad that you'll never be fixed - you can't make ends with the past if you're version of the past is a lie. You have become someone so trashy since I first met you and I can't believe that I [ever] looked up to you!!
I was not compensated in any way. This form was soley for my venting about a celebrity lie!

Saturday 9: #5

Welcome to this week's Saturday 9!
Theme: Call Me
1. Who is someone that phones your routinely that you never seem to be up to talk to, but you are not ready to push them out of your life?
There's really nobody that calls that I don't love.
2. What is something that effects you deeply, to your core, no matter your mood or what else is going on in your life?
Long story short - My aunt is a piece of junk, can't raise her own son (age 17; not because he's a bad kid, just because she sucks..) Therefore, my parents are raising someone else's child when they are at the rightful age to have fun by themselves (because both me & my sister are grown).. My parents are being taken advantage of (in my opinion, and a few others..) and there's nothing I can do. I hate it. My parents do not deserve it.
3. Tell us something that relaxes you and always makes you happy.
Hmm. I enjoy cooking. Trying new things. It tends to calm me down. And I love whenever Joshua joins in :)
4. If you could take the train from anywhere to anywhere, where would 'anywhere' be?
If I could take it ANYWHERE - no water stopping me, I would take it from Pikeville, TN (where I live) all the way to London. :) Goodluck with that, huh?
5. If you could look into the furture, how far down the road would you like to see? 10 years? 100 years? A million?
I truly don't think that I'd like to. I'm content with not knowing. I like guessing about upcoming years, then seeing if I was right or completely wrong. :) It's more fun than knowing.
6. Did you do your shopping online for Christmas, how did it go? Did things come in on time? Any significant failures? ...and if you didn't, will you consider trying online shopping sometime this year?
I didn't this past year and I don't really plan to this year, either. I perfer buying them in person, I like to know exactly what I'm getting for someone. Plus, no hassel of waiting for it to be in stock OR it not coming.
7. What people or projects are worth your time, money or effort?
Many people. The way that I look at it, if you make me a part of your life, I can make a spot for you in mine. :)
8. Think back when you were in highschool. Are you proud of the way you dressed, or do you wish you could go back and change it?
I'm fine with the way I dressed. (It was only a fwe months ago..) I wore t-shirts & jeans; nothing wrong with that, if you ask me.
9. Do any of your friends, family or co-workers know about your blogs? For those that do, did you tell them or have they stumpled upon it themselves?
A lot of my friends and family members know about it. My friends - I've told. My family - my parents have bragged about it to them. :)
Thanks for joining this week's Saturday 9!
Dont foget to check out my No Stranger Sunday post & sign up if you're interested!

Aloha Friday #3

In Hawaii, the people use Friday as a day of relaxation. So, curtesy of An Island Life - I will do the same. Every friday I will post one question, and you can answer it here. Then, after you answer the question - post a question on your blog & take the day easy!
HAPPY FRIDAY!

Question:
What is your favorite aspect of the blogsphere?

My Answer:
I like getting to meet new bloggers. I enjoy blogging with people and trying to figure them out based on what they write. It's incredibly hard. I wouldn't ever judge the person if I had the chance to meet them in real life, based on my opinions, but it's fun, either way.

Now it's your turn to answer.

Survey is out!!

I have sent out the survey to everyone that has confirmed their participation in the Cupid's Blogger Swap!! :)
If you are a participant and you have any further questions, please feel free to ask away here.
After everyone has had time to shop for their partners, I will make this post a linky so that you can link up pictures of your goodies!
Thanks again for participating!!

Subscribe via E-Mail!!

I finally figured it out!
So, now, you can subscribe to me in e-mails!
YAYY!
Just type your e-mail address in the form (thing) on my sidebar & click subscribe!
Simple, right? Yes.

Allow Me to Introduce Myself..

My name is Jerrica! I am 19 years-old. I just graduated high school in May of 2009. I'm currently a freshman at Chattanooga State - majoring in Business. I have an amazing fiance! We plan to marry after college! :)
Random Facts:
»Singing is my passion. I hope to work up the nerve to go on American Idol - but I'm a chicken. I've been in choirs since Elementary School. I've made All-State Choir whenever I lived in Florida. I love singing for people! I don't get nervous, never have.. unless people STARE (very hard) at me, then I get butterflies.
»I love tomatos, pasta, warheads, cucumbers, pork steak, soy chicken (chicken marinated in soy sauce - not like tofu)! I could easily live off of those 5 things!
»Over-analyze things that don't call for it.
»I'm incredibly childish (not like an annoying child.. I just like to have fun).
»I'm not sappy. I don't cry too easily. Sunsets do not make my day better. - I've always thought that something was wrong with my *girly* instincts because of this.
»I only eat popcorn if it has sugar on it. But I don't like Kettle Corn.
»When I was a baby, my parents teethed me with Beef Jerky.. Ahh, how I love beef jerky!! yumm!
»I love cooking. After I get my AAS in Business, I hope to go back for an AAS in Culinary!
»Favorite Shows: Criminal Minds. NCIS. Hell's Kitchen. Challenge. Chopped. 30 Minute Meals.
»I don't like cooked carrots; the way that they feel grosses me out.
»I love watching movies. Horror, comedy, and romance-comedies are my preference.
»I don't spend much money. My parents raised me well. I know that money doesn't grow on trees and if you buy expensive brands, you miss out on a lot. With the money I've been saving while shopping, Joshua and I are soon going to Disney World!
»I've never dyed my hair - when I was little, I over-heard a lady say that it makes your hair turn gray faster.
»I don't smoke. Have no plans of starting.
»I have a lot of pet-peeves.
»I can't stand to see parents disrespected by their own children.
»I have a collection of duck items & Spongebob items -- I suppose my favorite color may secretly be yellow..?
»I like bright colors - Lime Green, Bright Blue, Bright Orange, etc.
»I'm very opinionated - but I know how to keep my mouth shut when needed.
Thanks to Trisha for deciding it was time for people to get to know each other. :)
Also, check out my No Stranger Sunday post.. you may be interested in being featured.

Is it just me, or does that seem wrong?

I was reading a fellow bloggers post "Term Papers For Sale!" - Wait! What?
Seriously? I always thought that buying papers for school was a joke, just something to laugh about.
Okay, okay .. back to the reading part. I coudn't help but to feel that this person was actually encouraging college students to BUY their term papers!! Come on, I'm in college and I know this is wrong. Wait.. Is it wrong? I suppose if you put out the money because you don't have the time.. then maybe?.. NO! It's wrong. If you're a college student, make time for your work - plain and simple. I'm a freshman at Chattanooga State and although my life is busy from time to time, I wouldn't buy a paper! Worse comes to worse, I'd just talk to my professor and let them know about what's going on and why it may be a tad bit late - maybe it'd be okay. But I wouldn't buy someone else's work!
Uhg! I suppose that what bugs me is that I know that companies look through your files and want to know if you beat the other students' scores and such.. and knowing that, I want to outbeat the other students.. Obviously! But then I find out that I probably can't outbeat the person next to me because that person paid some professional to write their paper for them. However, if it came down to it - I could beat the student but I can't outbeat the student and the paid essay! It's very frustrating.
Why encourage people to cheat? You live in America, right? Right. So why encourage the next President or next Governor to be a complete idiot that can't even write a single paper?! You say that you want "A better tomorrow" - so if that's true.. encourage hard work because that's what will bring a better tomorrow - don't encourage stupidity; there's enough of that as it is.

What are your thoughts of buying papers?
Have you ever done it?

Please do not let my writing influence your answer - I really want to know the truth. Maybe I'm thinking to harshly?..

No Stranger Sunday

Yes, I am aware that today is not Sunday. :) I'm just getting ready for it.
I am starting a new meme, I suppose that's what it's called?.. I'll host it here, every Sunday.
It's called No Stranger Sunday.

What will happen?
I will interview bloggers. Each week, I will post the interview on my blog.. allowing you to get to know the Blogger a bit better. And there you have No Stranger Sunday.
This may be a big blogsphere, but there's no reason to not have friends on it.

Any way to promote my interview?

As a matter of fact, there is. (Thanks to the very smart idea of Twin-Spiration.) If I interview you, I will make you a button. It will look just like the one to the side. I will link the button to the post that contains your interview; therefore, no two buttons will be the same. I will then send you the code for your button. This way, you are able to place it on your sidebar and show that you've been interviewed. (That gives you and me both more traffic to our sites.) There are a few different phrases to choose from, and even colors (i.e. "I was interviewed on No Stranger Sunday. Come Take a Look OR Come Take a Peek OR we can talk about a phrase of your own, but not guarenteed). The words in black can be changed to a different color, but not the meme's actual words.

How to Join?
Simple, if you're interested in being interviewed and featured on my blog, please e-mail me at jerricapuck(at)yahoo(dot)com and put Interview Request in the subject line. Otherwise I will assume that it's spam.
OR
You can also sign up by leaving a comment below, however, you MUST include your e-mail address; even if your profile shows your e-mail address, please place it in the comment.

What This Does?
This allows other bloggers to get to know you. Maybe not personally, but on a better level. This will also increase your blogging buddies and may even increase your followers. :)

I look forward to this new meme and hope that you all take advantage of it.

Sign up! :)
I am not compensated for any No Stranger Sunday posts. These posts are posted to help bloggers meet other bloggers. It is soley for the enjoyment of my readers.

Pain in the Pot.

Last night, Joshua and I were up watching Criminal Minds almost the entire night.. It was a marathon. YAYY! (Goodness, I love shows like Criminal Minds, NCIS, etc..).
At any rate, Joshua decided that he would make us some grilled cheese and soup. I wanted tomato soup; it just doesn't seem right to eat grilled cheese with something else.
He went to the cabinet.. NO TOMATO SOUP?!?! Oh mann!
Then he found tomato sauce. Well, that can't be too different, right? Wrong.
We tasted it. It's much more salty and sour(ish) than tomato soup.
So, we decided we'll search Google to try and find a recipe for tomato soup using tomato sauce. We find a ton. But none of them are normal. They have wierd vegetables and herbs.. Nothing like Campbells creamy soup. I just wanted something yummy, not fancy.
We keep looking. Finally, something sounds about right.
16 oz Tomato Sauce
24 oz Milk
1 tsp Salt.
Eh, I'm nervous though. Salt? Did these people not taste the tomato sauce? Oh well. We'll try it - minus the salt. Uhggg. It was still too salty.
Now, let me explain something - my dad is a chef. We use to get invited to places just so that my dad would take over the kitchen. Seriously. I'm talking Weddings, Family get-togethers (no, not our family), group meetings, bar-b-ques.. Everything. So I'm no stranger to salt. Salt & Garlic are my two favorite cooking saviors! But dang. This stuff was too salty even for me.
We just couldn't make the soup work. Although Joshua liked it -- it still wasn't even remotely good to me. So I settled with two grilled cheese, extra cheese.
We tried. But to me, it just didn't work.
Either way, Joshua was my personal chef last night, a pleasant change. Thanks, Sweetheart.
Next grocery trip, buy ALL of the Tomato Soup!

Saturday 9: #4

Welcome to this week's Saturday 9!

Theme: You Shook Me

1. What celebrity would you just want to shake some sense into?
I'm not really sure. I mean, being in the spotlight 24/7 would make ya do some crazy things, I'm sure. Sooo.. who am I to judge?

2. What do you think comes after death?
I don't think that anyone can be 100% sure.. but I think it's Heaven or Hell. You make the decisions that cause the outcome of where you go.

3. What is the first book that you can remember reading by yourself as a child?
The Berenstain Bears

4. What was the first rock concert that you attended.
I have only been to one concert - it was a 3 day event & it was years ago - Christian Rock Concert.

5. If you were to suddenly become famous, would you choose a stage name? If yes, what would it be?
I've always wanted to be a singer. And I don't want to "toot" my own horn or anything, but I'm actually rather good at it. And if I do ever get the chance to become famous, I'd choose a nickname, I just don't know what yet.

6. What is the only thing that you wish the media would stop talking about?
Eh. The Tiger Woods issue. It's over.

7. If you could be a part of any band, which one would it be and who would you be and why?
Oh my, my, my. I really have no answer for this. I don't know what band I'd actually fit in with.. hmmm.

8. Do you live close to your immediate family members? If not, how far away are they?
I do live very close to them. Me, my parents, and my grandparents all live in the same small community.

9. Last seasonal questions (promise): What did you do on New Years Eve?
Well, Joshua and I had planned to go to this fancy restaurant in Chattanooga, but they were having a show so it was gonna be $60 a piece. We didn't go there. Instead, we went out to eat at Ryan's. Then went and watched a movie, and then went to the river (it was freezing!!), cuddled, and fed the ducks. Not a big party for 2 people our age - but we had a blast!

Couples Retreat Movie *Review*

Joshua and I went to see a movie to help bring in the New Year!
We go to the Regal Cinemas in Hixon because it's only $3 per person to get in - no matter what!
We decided to see the movie Couples Retreat.
Yes, I am aware that this movie is a bit old - but being that Joshua and I only pay $6 for both of us as opposed to $7 a peice - I don't mind that the movie's been out a while.

Plot:
A comedy centered around four couples travel to a tropical-resort island for a vacation. While one of the couples is there to work on their marriage, the others fail to realize that participation in the resort's therapy session is not optional.

Popular Cast Members:
Vince Vaughn as Dave
Jason Bateman as Jason
Kristen Bell as Cynthia

My Rating of the Movie:
3 1/2 Stars ;; possibly 4 Stars.

The movie is filled with lots of laughs, close-to-teary eyes, and great lessons for ANY couple to learn.
