Do you love trying new things when eating? …You know what I’m talking about, the things that don’t make sense together until you’ve bit into it. Good, because that’s exactly what I’m going to introduce to you today. Are you ready for this? Chocolate covered potato chips from
Asher’s! Yum, right? Right. I was a little hesitant when I received the bag filled with chocolate covered potato chips, but I’m a chocolate lover, so I saw no harm in trying one out. No harm? Boy was I wrong, if I’m not careful I’ll gain 200lbs; I could eat these things all day! They’re delicious.
Now remember, I’m a chocolate lover. Get this, though. The chocolate that they use to dip the potato chips in is the best that I’ve ever had. No kidding. This stuff is fantastic! You know, the chocolate that companies use to use before they became so penny-clinching? Well, this is even better. I’m telling you,
Asher’s has got the right idea.
A bit about the company:
Asher’s began in 1892 whenever Chester A. Asher founded the business. Asher was a Scottish farm boy hailing from Ontario, Canada. In 1892, he founded the Asher’s candy making business in Center City Philadelphia. Within a few years, he moved the successful company to Philadelphia’s historic Germantown section. In the early years, the staff of six also made maple syrup, jams and jellies, and did some canning. The store even included baked items and ice cream – a variety of products, but one shared commitment to quality and taste.
The original recipes (many of which are still used today) were written by Chester himself on the back of the sugar bags! Passersby could gaze at the original storefront window where chocolate collections and "sweets from all over the world" including European style bonbons and rare candies were displayed.
And I know that a lot of you worry about the continuous recall of peanut products, so here’s something taken from
Asher’s website:
As you may be aware, in addition to Peanut Butter and Peanut Paste, Peanut Corporation of America has extended the recall to include Peanuts, Peanuts Granules and Peanut Meal produced at their Blakely, Georgia and Plainview, Texas facilities.
All Peanut and Peanut Butter products used at Asher's Chocolates have been examined for their source of origin. Asher's Chocolates hereby assures all our customers that all Asher's products containing Peanuts and/or Peanut Butter are safe for consumption and are not part of the PCA recall.
Asher's Chocolates has no association with Peanut Corporation of America including the purchase of any Peanut or Peanut Butter product from the Blakely, GA and/or Plainview, TX facilities.
Asher’s has such a wide range of goodies. There’s something for everyone. You can purchase a small gift or even an entire gift basket.
Awesome, right? Right!
