When Prizes Vanish..

Have any of you had a problem with receiving your winnings from a blogger or sponsor? (I am having this problem right now. I will not mention any names at this time, because I just e-mailed the blogger and am giving her the benefit of the doubt.) What is the right thing for us, as co-bloggers & the rightful winners) supposed to do?
In my case, I was informed by e-mail on September 23rd that I was the winner of a product. I instantly replied to claim my prize. A couple of weeks go by.. I receive nothing. So I decide to write the other blogger and ask her, very politely, if she had sent my product out.. I receive a reply in a matter of a day or so:
Hi Jerrica, I am not the one who sends it, the sponsor providing the prize does. I will be in contact with her again today to find out why you have not received it and I will get back to you as soon as I hear anything! Thank you.
Okay, I can deal with that. I understand that she has to go through the company and whatnot and that companies can be super busy. Another week or two goes by, I try e-mailing her; no response. So I leave a comment on the post (the e-mail MAY have went to her spam, no biggie):

I have not received anything recent from you regarding my prize. I know that the sponsor is responible, but I was wondering if you had heard anything about it.Thank you.
Remember, I was informed that I'd won on September 23rd, so whenever I wrote her the above comment, it was exactly one month later. Needless to say, I still have not heard anything since she wrote me to say that she would inform me whenever she heard anything. I e-mailed her once again today.
I'm sorry to bother you, I am. But you wrote me that I was the winenr of your giveaway on September 23rd, and then replied to me on October 12th to tell me that you were not responisoble for shipping the product (the sponsor was). You said that you were going to talk with the sponsor the following day and that you would let me know something ASAP.
I waited for your response, and after another long gap, I wrote you back and received nothing. I can live without my prize that I won fairly, however, I think it is incredibly rude for you to not have answered any of my e-mails (I even commented on the post that I won on); No reply.
I hate to do this, I really do. I'm not a rude person, but I feel that you have been terribly rude to me.
Please have the sponsor e-mail me if they tell you that they will not/have not shipped the product. I would greatly appreciate it.

Although I will admit that I was a little bit upset whenever I e-mailed her, I don't think that I was terrible. I have tried to be patient, but she has not worked with me in the least. Even if she had simply e-mailed me and said "I'm sorry but the sponsor is refusing to send the product" or something, I would have been satisfied.. But she never said anything. Not only do I feel that was rude, but I also feel that it was unprofessional.
I know that most people would say, "Try to forget it." "She's not sending you anything if it's taken this long." etc. But it isn't necessarily that I can't live without the prize, it's that she ignored the situation completely.
Hmm. What would you do if this happened to you?

  1. I don't know, it's never happened to me. :( I hope it gets straightened out for you! That would really suck and I hope it never happens again. I hope it never happens to me either. I had a prize not show up once but I was in direct contact with the sponsor and when I emailed the sponsor after a month of no contact, she apologized profusely, hadn't seen my email with my mailing address but was able to go back in her inbox and find it, and mailed the prize out that very day with a little something extra to say sorry. That's the closest I've ever come to having a problem. Then again I can count on one hand the number of giveaways I've ever won so that could have something to do with my good luck? ;)

  2. This has happened to me! But it's good to now it's probably the manufacturer and not the people doing the blog who I really like! (I'm not naming names either, so don't ask!)
