EverythingBirth.com Review

As many of you know, I am a little more than 7 months pregnant, with a precious baby girl. Being that our little girl is so close to arriving, I have been trying to get products to review that I know will be helpful in the near future with her. Fortunately for me, I came across Andrea, a Senior Consultant, from EverythingBirth.com.

From the Creator of the Company - Crystal: In 2001, Everything Birth was born! I held birth classes, hosted workshops, and gathered as much info about pregnancy, birth, and parenting I could get my hands on! I purchased my first GentleBirth Pool to rent locally and started carrying a variety of natural parenting items. Working from home became most important to me, as we continued to navigate the hospitals over a series of complications and a baby in tote. In the beginning of 2004, I purchased midwifesupplies.com (at the time known as Peaceful Beginnings) from a local friend, midwife, and soon to be mom. Helping midwives find the supplies they needed, putting together home birth kits, working with birth centers, and even working with hospital birth centers gave me the final push to make this business my calling.
I am fortunate to have all of these birth people in my life, and look forward to the occasional birth story with which I am blessed. My goal is to continue to advocate for informed birth choices, women’s rights, and the midwifery model of care. I support non-profits that stand by the same philosophy and have started a Midwifery Cause of the Month to help promote these agencies of change.
Courtesy of Andrea, I was able to review three fantastic items!

The day that I received the package of goodies, my mom and I dug right into the face mask. My mom had been talk about doing a facial for almost two months and we just hadn’t found the right time or type for us.
The directions for this clay mask were incredibly simple, which was great for us, because neither of us have ever had a facial, let alone prepared a facial mask.
The mask is a combination of Green French Clay Organic Oatmeal – it nourishes the skin and removes toxins. Green French Clay not only has minerals good for the skin, but is known for its enormous absorbent powers due to the constitution of its micro molecules. It literally "drinks" oils, toxic substances, and impurities from your skin. Its toning action stimulates the skin by bringing fresh blood to damaged skin cells, revitalizing the complexion, and tightening pores. French Green Clay is marvelous for helping to clear problem skin. Use it daily on trouble spots, or weekly as part of a complete facial treatment. Mined from bedrock quarries in France, it is completely natural, unscented and fragrance free. (per Mountain Rose Herbs)

Directions: Mix about a quarter of the bag of clay face mask in a small bowl with water (for oily skin), milk (for normal to dry skin) or for a terrific tonic (organic plain yogurt) until the mix is a "runny mud" apply to skin and let dry. Rinse off with warm water, pat face dry and apply Beautiful Skin Face Cream.
After about 7 minutes on our skin, we were done. It came off so easily – just nice warm water on a wash cloth. Yepp. It was that simple. After taking off the mask, I could tell a huge difference in the softness of my skin.

Now, as most of you know, I am due in August with a precious baby girl. And to say the least, diapering will not be my favorite part of her arrival. Joshua and I have made the decision that overall (not 100% though) we will be cloth diapering, as it is better for the baby’s bottom. We’ve spent quite a bit of time practicing with cloth diapers (prefolds) and trying to do our best at getting the folding and pinning to go right. Needless to say, we’re no pros. Joshua doesn’t like prefolds. He says “The only thing these difficult cloths are good for is getting me pricked my pins” and such. However, knowing that they’re also good for baby’s bottom seems to keep him trying. This brings me onto our next item that I was able to review: the GroViab Newborn All in One Diaper.
To prepare for baby use, wash 5-6 times before use. They gain more absorbency as you wash them. After this step has been completed, these cute little all in one diapers are ready to be your life saver. Simply snap on baby and go. It's that easy! They are everything in you need from a disposable diaper all in a safer, healthier, reusable cloth diaper AND MORE.
ü  Adjustable rise snaps for a trim fit
ü  Certified organic cotton inner
ü  Soft layer of water resistant TPU
ü  No cover needed
ü  No stuffing, no doublers
As for the washing directions (after baby has used):
·         Remove as much solid matter as possible
·         Place soiled diaper in a dry diaper pail-no soaking necessary
·         Wash soiled diapers every 2 days on warm with detergent
·         Tumble dry
·         Do NOT use bleach, enzyme cleaners or fabric softeners
Simple enough, if you ask me. I just cannot get over how helpful these all in one diapers really are.

Also, on EverythingBirth.com you can purchase these diapers in any of 7 different, adorable designs! These cute little diapers fit most newborns from 5-12lbs.
After using the all in one diaper, Joshua quickly decided that these were much more “daddy-friendly” and that he’d like us to get more!

These liners are made from 100% viscose rayon, a cellulosic fibre derived from natural sources that will biodegrade (8 days in sewage treatment facility and 20 days in private septic).
I decided to test them out to the best of my ability. Seeming as our baby is not yet here; I used them with the little boy, Alex, that we baby sit. Since Alex’s parents do not use the cloth diapering method, I asked his parents if they’d mind me testing out the liners on him by diapering him in cloth diapers the next few times that I had him, until I was out of liners – they agreed. The first time that I cloth diapered him he was a tad bit fussy – he wasn’t familiar with it and it took a little bit of time getting use to. When I changed him later that day, I checked to be sure that there was no little rash or anything caused by the new liner that his sensitive skin wasn’t use to – nothing. Perfect.
So, I used them the next few times, as well. He grew fond of the cloth diapering and the new liners, which I disposed of in the toilet. They did not clog the toilet or slow down the flushing at all, it was just like using toilet paper. After baby-sitting Alex daily for about 2 days, I was out of the liners; therefore, forced to go back to using disposable diapers, as that was the agreement. Now, Alex decided he didn’t want disposables, he’d become a fan of the cloth diapering and liners. With that being noted, his parents are now going to be cloth diapering and are going to be looking into these great little liners.

All items reviewed wonderfully. Each product had its own special way of helping me out over the past couple of weeks. Be sure to stop by EverythingBirth.com to check out all of the fantastic items for babies and to help out moms (and dads too!).

If you’d like to win some great items for EverythingBirth.com, simply keep up with my blog and be sure to look out for the Baby Must-Have’s Event! Andrea has donated some fantastic items for entrants to win!

I receieved the above items free of cost in order to do my review. The opnions expressed here are 100% my own.

Life Changes You

Before I was pregnant, I weighed in at a whopping 98 pounds! I've been small my entire life, no joke. When I was born, I only weighed 5 lbs 6 oz. I mean, really, I'm just small.

I got made fun of from time to time. But it never bothered me. I figured that everyone gets made fun of for something at some point in their lives.

So, whenever I got pregnant, I had a lot of people telling me, "You're going to miss that small little body of yours" and "You can kiss that tiny, perfect body goodbye. You'll never see it again". I figured that they were right. I'd miss my body, at some point or another.

Nope!

I have to be completely honest. I've never felt more beautiful than I do now, as I am pregnant. The entire time, I've enjoyed the weight gain. I think I needed it. I was as healthy as I could be - I'd tried gaining weight before, but it just never worked for me. And now that I've put some weight on, I wish it would stay. Well, not everywhere, but some of it. Of course I'd like the baby belly to inch iteself away after the baby is born, but I love what I've put on in my face!

Needless to say, that I'm only weighing in at about 122 pounds (as of last Thursday), but psshh, that's a lot more than I started out at.

A lot of women that I know that have had children talk about missing their bodies and having to throw out old clothes because they were too small, and some even cried as they did it.

But I'm looking forward to it. I want to put on enough weight that I can wear a Medium size shirt (without having to be pregnant!) or wear a size 3 in pants. Sheesh, I'd even be okay with getting bigger than that. I'd just like to be healthy looking.

At any rate, if you're pregnant, do your best to stay happy with yourself. Love the way you look. And if it starts to get you down, just remember:
At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that precious baby you're bringing into this world.

Joplin Missouri Aid Support - Check it out!

As many of you know, I have done a few different reviews for GourmetGiftBaskets.com! They are a fantastic company that has wonderful gourmet gift baskets for their customers!

As if I didn't like them enough already, now I find out that they've (the employees) have banned together in order to create a super-sized gift basket for the great people assisting in the clean up ofJoplin, Missouri (which was hit on Monday by a devistating tornado)!

The enormous gift basket weighed more than 70 pounds and included over 200 small food items to help give the workers and victims energy!

I just cannot believe how generous GourmetGiftBaskets.com has decided to be! It's incredible to see that some companies are still willing to put others over themselves - it's not just about the money, it's about people, morale, and helping one another! I certainly feel as though GourmetGiftBaskets.com has went above and beyond!

Below are a few ways that you can help out, as well:

» Food Bank Donations
» American Red Cross
» Volunteering

GourmetGiftBaskets.com, great job in stepping in to help out others! You deffinitely deserve some recognition for what you have donated! Job well done for helping those in need and the people working hard to help them!!

I was not compensated in any way. This post is soley to provide my readers with general information given by a great company!

Spoonful of Comfort Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

Being pregnant has been the best time of my life! I’ve never felt as good (pretty and healthy) as I have since I’ve been pregnant! Yet, as great as I feel, I still have my days when I just don’t want to get out of bed. On those days, I just like a nice warm cup of hot chocolate (my “go-to-pick-me-up”) and a delicious bowl of soup (or even broth). When I’m not feeling well, I like to have warm stuff that will ease my throat, even if my throat isn’t what is hurting. Luckily for me, I was able to do a review for Spoonful of Comfort, and I just happened to have one of my off days shortly after receiving my package from them!

The Story Behind the Company: In October 2007, I received the phone call from my mother that she had been diagnosed with Lung Cancer.
I was shocked, scared and panicked. The hardest part about hearing the news, was that she lived in New Brunswick Canada and I lived in Florida. More difficult still, I had just returned the day before from a trip visiting her. With two young children in school, I couldn't just turn around and go back.
I was so upset and felt helpless being so far away. I needed to "Do Something". I looked into sending flowers or fruit, but nothing seemed appropriate. I wanted to show her how much I cared, and in some way comfort her.
I immediately thought of Chicken soup - it's what she (like many mothers) used to make to comfort me. And the idea for Spoonful of Comfort was born.
Just six weeks later, I lost my mother.
During her final weeks she got lots of soup and other comforts from many of her 11 siblings and close friends. She never had the opportunity to try my soup.
However, in her honor, it is my goal to help others with sick loved ones. It is my promise to make and deliver a Spoonful of Comfort to your loved ones with as much care as if I were sending it to my own mother. They'll feel better and so will you. Whether you have an ailing mother, a child away at college with the flu, or a grandchild with an ear infection, Spoonful of Comfort can help you show that you care.

The day before I started feeling unwell, I received a package in the mail sent by Spoonful of Comfort. I immediately opened it and found a great surprise: 64oz jar of Chicken Soup, 6 Oatmeal Raison Cookies, and 6 Made From Scratch Rolls! It all looked so delicious! The note said to be sure and eat within 3 days of receiving, so I figured we would eat them in 2 days because my parents we were going to be house sitting for my sister and would need something to eat for dinner when we got there.

Little did I know that the following day I would be feeling so “icky” and unwell. As soon as I got up, I knew it – today wasn’t going to be my day. And Joshua decided to fix him and I a nice warm bowl of the Chicken Soup, heated up the rolls, and brought the cookies in with warm hot chocolate. Oh my, oh my! Everything was fantastic! There was no doubt that the soup was homemade – absolutely delicious – as was everything else!

As if the soup being homemade wasn't enough, to top it off, Spoonful of Comfort only uses natural ingredients, with no additives or preservatives! Want to know the ingredients? Simple. Chicken stock, pulled all natural chicken, noodles, carrots, celary, onion, sage, parsley, sea salt, and down-home comfort.

Spoonful of Comfort  offers their soup for different occasions, including:
» Thinking of You
» Holiday, and even as
I love the items that you can add to the New Baby set, such as a bib! Be sure to check out Spoonful of Comfort  and surprise someone that you care about with a wonderful, homemade treat!

Donsuemor Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

Sometimes I feel like the days last much too long. It’s almost like there are 48 hours squeezed into one day and bedtime never seems to get closer. On those days, I like to enjoy a nice, warm glass of hot chocolate. I suppose that you could say that hot chocolate is my escape, my relaxation. But let’s not kid ourselves here, every yummy, relaxing drink needs something to go along with it. This is where Donsuemor rocked my world.

A Bit about the Company: Starting with an original French recipe, Don and Susie Morris (Don-Sue-Mor) introduced madeleines to their Berkeley, California "gourmet ghetto" community in 1976. Together, the creative entrepreneur and the passionate baker created a treat unlike any other—a moist little cake with a fresh, unforgettable taste. Donsuemor continues their tradition of baking delicious bakery treats that bring delight to everyday life.

Donsuemor Madeleines are elegant little French cakes with distinctive shell shapes. Rich and buttery with a unique flavor and texture—soft and moist with lightly crisped edges—they are made with the finest quality, all natural ingredients.

Donsuemor’s allowed me to review their Variety Pack – Elegant Gift Box. If you want to talk about delicious, let’s get talking about Donsuemor’s fantastic Madelines! Mmm. I had never had a Madeline before, so I was slightly skeptical to try it, but boy-oh-boy was I glad that I did. In the gift box that I received there was an assortment of 16 Madelines: Tradtional, Chocolate, Lemon Zest, and Dipped Chocoalte – 4 of each type. Each Madeline comes individually wrapped, which I loved! Hands down, my favorite was the lemon zest, which is odd being that I don’t typically care for lemon flavored things.

Being that the package came with four of each flavor, I shared with my mom, dad, and of course, Joshua. We all got to try one of each flavor. Everyone loved them! My mom said “Those are the best cookies that I’ve ever tasted – did they send extra?!” Don’t let that statement go unnoticed – my mama has a sweet tooth and is always munching on cookies and candy, and yet she said they were the absolute best she’d ever tasted! These little Madelines were perfect for my overly long day. They were such a delicious treat that went so well with my hot chocolate. For a little while, I was able to forget that I had a house to clean and shopping to do.

Now, don’t let me give you the idea that Donsuemor only sells Madelines. Along with Madelines, they also offer French Almond Cakes, and Cute Cakes! Everything comes in multiple flavors, except for the French Almond Cakes. You can also purchase these goodies in gift sets, as well.

One lucky winner will receive their very own Variety Pack – Elegant Gift Box!

Join Listia!

Auctions for free stuff at Listia.com

Listia is a new kind of auction site where you bid on other people's stuff using credits instead of real money. We make it easy for you to give away stuff you don't need anymore and get stuff you want in return for free. If you enjoy giving and getting items for free, then you'll love Listia!

How It Works

2) Other users bid on the TV using credits they received for signing up, referring friends or listing their own stuff.
3) When the auction ends, the user who bid the highest amount of credits wins!
4) The buyer gets the TV, and the seller gets credits to use for something else on Listia.

I just joined. You sell something you don't need (coupon, item, etc.) in order to get something that you need/want. Simple, right? I think so.

There are so many things listed on here to bid on. And being that everyday people list everyday items in their own home, there are infinite possibilities of what you may find!

Bummas Review

Mom’s want the best for their babies. However, despite all efforts, most babies, at some point, end up with diaper rash. I suppose that it’s just a way of life. There are so many powders, talcs, and ointments to help prevent diaper rash, but sometimes, they just aren’t enough. Not to mention that sometimes, you just don’t have those things with you when your baby needs them. That’s where Bummas comes into play!

A Bit about the Company:
The creation of Bummas came about when we had our first baby boy. When your first arrives, you are given all kinds of advice:
"Use the wet commercial wipes, don’t use the wet commercial wipes, use gauze; use whatever is handy to block the pee; use another diaper to block the pee; don’t use that, use this; use powder to dry them off, don’t use powder-it contains talc and studies have linked talc to cancer.”
The one thing that was never mentioned was how to dry our little guy’s “stuff” off after the clean up. Our baby’s bum was just way too wet to put a diaper back on--and blowing down there until you’re blue in the face just wasn’t working. Thus Bummas were born. A soft absorbent, luxurious baby cloth to soak up all the wetness. I received a pack of The Wild Ones. I love them. There’s a nice variety of colors, and so they’re bound to match anything. Below is a list of their different sets, which can be viewed below and here.

» The Boys - Blues and greens for the little boys.
» The Girls - Pinks and purples for the little ladies.
» The Calm Ones - Earthy browns and greens.
» The Wild Ones - A mixture of each of the other sets.
» The Tropical Ones - Bright and colorful for any nursery. (Not pictured above)

Product Information - Cloth Wipe for Babies
» Eliminates the use of talcum powder.
» 100% Cotton - Woven Velour Terry Cloth milled in the USA.
» Variety of color combinations for nursery themes.
» Handy 5” x 7” size. Won’t pill, shrink, or fade. May need a little trim after washing.
» Wash in like colors before use. See
Warranty here.
» Durable. Just throw them in the wash and use again.
» They will last until your little one is out of diapers and beyond!
» Made in the USA

Bummas are super soft and can be used for numerous things when it comes to baby. Of course they can be used for the baby’s bottom and private area. Also, if you add just a douse of water, you can use them as wipes, as well. Not to mention for baby’s sensitive little face. And I’m thinking that they would make great teeth/gum cleaners for your young baby or even teethers with a little bit of water on them. (Yes, they’re that soft!) Be sure to check them out. These sets would not only be a great way to spend your money on yourself, but would also make wonderful gifts.
